Wonderful shot! I know what you mean about living subjects placing on your photo who are so quick! Yesterday I spend the afternoon running in the garden trying to catch some bumble bees on the photo. To bad that they are so fast! So with +/- 50 photos made, only 10 have a decent bumble bee on the photo!

the bark texture looks great contrasted against the snail shell.
Lovelly silver on the snail.

Just call him Jefferson Jr...LOL. Think I'd have to agree with you...always hate it...about the time everything is focused just right, the subject takes a powder..Maybe have to feed the cats a tranq. next time I try to take pix...LOL... :D (Big Grin)

I haven't seen many photos of snails, which is odd, as like you said they keep still long enough to take a decent photo of. :) (Smile) This reminds me of a painting my friend did a while back, I love the feel of this photo. Excellent lighting and composition!
