Artist's Comments

I felt like doing a quick painting to loosen up, and this ended up taking longer than I intended because of the lace details (which aren't even that detailed, haha). Ended up taking about an hour and a half.

I used this photo from O---girlinred---O as a rough reference, obviously I wasn't focused on getting a likeness or anything. I just liked the look of the image and wanted to paint something based off of it.

The sheer folds of the lace look so real. Beautiful.

the lace looks good, but her proportions are all wrong, making her look snake-like or something

It's not the proportions I think but maybe the ears. I love the effects with the lace and the colouring is nice, but she needs ears I think :D

When doing the initial feature placement I noticed that it was off, and I decided that I wanted to stick with that look and exaggerate it even further. I kind of wanted her to look a bit alien.
hahaha yeah, I should go back and give her ears. XD
Indeed, you should. Without ears the face does not look alien but deformed.
it's not just the ears - it's also jaw size vs. nexk size, and head size vs. nexk size...
that's why i said snake like feeling, the head is almost the same width as the neck, making it look like it's just a straight out continuety ;)
